Blank Slate Dance
Blank Slate Dance is a group of dancers from around the Triangle who have come together for a fifth year to create and perform new pieces of contemporary work in and around North Carolina. Blank Slate began with a few dancers' desire to return to the world of performing and choreographing after college and while teaching dance. They were soon joined by several other dancers who shared the same vision. The company has a unique process where every company member has the opportunity to play the role of either choreographer or performer giving Blank Slate the opportunity to create and present different aesthetics and styles.
Several of the dancers are dance educators in the Triangle area, and many studied dance and dance education at schools such as East Carolina University, Meredith College, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Duke University, and the Boston Conservatory. The company has performed in North Carolina Dance Alliance choreographer's showcase, the Greensboro Fringe Festival, Steve Clarke's "Multiple Exposure III and IV," Even Exchange's "In Your Own Backyard", produced three concerts in collaboration with other area artists, as well as several other local performances. For the past two seasons, the company has been proud to present two benefit concerts in collaboration with Durham School of the Arts helping individuals with life threatening diseases. Blank Slate members are: Heather Pike (director, founding member), Heather Rose (assistant director), Leigh Holtzman, Lindsay Kunkle, Bethany Miglarese, and Natalie Rojano.
